Westwood Park Association Meeting Minutes March 16, 2010—837 Faxon Avenue Present: Greg Clinton, Anne Chen, Julie Hagelshaw (arrived 8:15 p.m.), Kate Favetti, Nanette Asimov, Greg Edelstone Excused: Anita Theoharis Meeting Convened: 7:20 p.m. I. Approval of Minutes of February 16, 2009 Action: Vote of 6-0 (Anne Chen/2nd Nanette Asimov) II. Co-Treasurer’s Reports A. Account Balances—Grant Revenues continue to be greater than projected at this point in the fiscal year. Expenses are less than budgeted. IRS Return being prepared. B. Dues and Lien collections—Julie Possible online deposit through Bank of America service for small businesses. Grant to investigate, consult with Julie and report back. III. Committee Reports Newsletter—Nanette All articles have been submitted waiting for response from Erica; Will need replacement for Wellness Center Coordinator. Received 3 bids for changing Newsletter printer ranging from $350-$555 to $990. Nanette to get sample mock up from bidders. Action: Authorize Nanette Asimov to spend $25 on mock up of newsletter from Copy Central Vote of 5-0 (Anne Chen/2nd Grant Edelstone) Common Area Maintenance—Greg Resident inquired about additive to care for common areas. Greg consulted with Baltazar to make sure additives are child and pet friendly. Will add information to newsletter next quarter – Westwood Park goes green. C. Planning and Zoning—Anita 140 Colon residents want to replace glass porch wood with stucco. Anita to write a letter that project ok and that they will just need to get permits from the City. 665 Faxon – WPA contacted City; illegal use of garage – removal of off street parking. Anita continues to work on necessary corrections to City records on111 Colon: Records should state that Westwood Park Association prevailed in preventing vertical addition. OARC—Kate OARC won a $79,000 grant from the City. Capital improvements including new awnings and signs, exterior lighting, fresh paint, façade improvements will be starting next week. Planning meetings on the Community Benefit District and Phelan Loop continuing. IV. Old Business Upper Faxon Avenue Green upgrade—Greg Anne received question about size of Photinea: They will be growing in to match the current shrubs. People should stay off grass for 3 weeks to give grass a chance to set. Signs will remain until ok to use area. Mike O’Driscoll resident and employee of the SF Water Department is checking whether the Upper Faxon Avenue triangle water meter moved; Not possible - Greg will contact him. Lower Miramar gate lights—Greg Line possibly cut by PGE when working in area; PGE project representative died end of 2009; Greg has contacted his replacement and is waiting for a response. Miramar Circle improvements—Greg/Nanette Problem: Graceful aspects of tree hidden from view. New Zealand flax has grown to be much larger than anticipated. Richard Hill – Davey Tree will trim tree. Proposed removing flax and either give them away or possibly transplant to Upper Monterey planting area. Action: Remove lavender & flax; Transplant flax to other areas or give away; Anne Chen to consult with Baltazar regarding suggested plants for Circle; Calendar for further discussion in April. Vote of 6-0 (Nanette Asimov/2nd Julie Hagelshaw) New Business City College Wellness Center Passes Need replacement for current coordinator Nicole. Nanette will ask Nicole for recommendations for replacement. Westwood Park received and distributes 30 passes per semester. In the alternative, Nanette will request via newsletter if anyone is interested to apply. President successor A number of Board terms will be expiring in 2010 and 2011. Gate cleaning – Anne to get estimate for spray washing; Grafitti on Phelan/Flood gate – Julie to contact neighbor to paint. VI. Next Meeting: April 20, 2010: 45 Pizzaro VII.
