Westwood Park Association Minutes of monthly meeting 6/23/09 The meeting was called to order at 7:10p.m. at 49 Pizarro. Roll Call: Present: Anita Theoharis, Julie Hagelshaw, Anne Chen, Asa Williams, Grant Edelstone Absent: Greg Clinton, Nanette Asimov Community members: Kate Favetti, OARC Tim Emert Approval of Minutes April 21, 2009 meeting: Moved by Julie Seconded by Anne Passed unanimously. Co-Treasurer’s Reports: Account balances provided in report from co-treasurer, Grant Edelstone as follows: 9 Mo Risk Free CD 1.69% (Mat. 9/24/09): $18,450 9 Mo Risk Free CD 1.39% (Mat. 2/22/10): $12,123 Maximizer: $52,507 WPA Checking: $607 Total Bank Accounts: $83,686 Grant did our tax return with our accountant and had to pay $118 for taxes. We have a state tax overpayment of $160 applied to 2009 taxes. Accountant charged us $600 for the work on the tax return. Grant suggests adding a calendar feature to the Westwood Park web-site to keep track of important dates for the Board. Dues and Liens: Julie Hagelshaw 74% of dues paid! 1326 Ocean – behind on payment by 3 years. The owner balked about paying and had their attorney contact Julie and sorted it out. 1320 Ocean – Mr. Waters. Owes $7,000. Anita moves that we accept the offer of $3,500 to satisfy the outstanding obligations and to advise Mr. Waters that if he in the future falls behind on payment he will be charged compound interest on the outstanding amount. Anne seconds. Unanimously approved. OARC update – Kate Favetti Phelan Loop – transitional youth housing. Selection committee (for architect) will be meeting on 7/7 & 7/13. WPA should ask Kevin Kitchingham (Bernal Heights) to send package ahead of meeting. Plan to put article in newsletter about this project. Family festival will happen on September 19. Adopt-a-tree fundraiser for the holiday season – will pay for the ribbons for the trees on Ocean. Committee Reports: Newsletter: Nanette Asimov Content so far for newsletter: ·     Pres Letter (Greg) (possibly include the tree update here?) ·     WPA Meeting notice and agenda ·     Election Issue: those running (we hope) this time are Anita, Asa/Geoff, and Anne, so we’ll need candidates statements from y’all! ·     Library Opening (Nanette) with photos ·     Reminder for people to sign up for a Wellness Center pass with Nicole Stagnaro. Deadline for copy to Nanette is August 1. Common Area Maintenance: Greg Clinton Nothing to report Planning and Zoning: Anita Theoharis 1490 Ocean Ave (gas station) – the developer was supposed to come to June meeting however planning staff rejected design and they will be revising with architect – also canceled planned OARC presentation. Will reschedule with new design. Anita spoke to David Silverman (counsel for project sponsor) who said he didn’t know about our CC&Rs but he now does. Our entrance gate is located on that property and WPA would like to retain that gate in location if possible. Old Business: Graffiti paint – Geoff Geoff talked to property owner by pillar that keeps getting painted with graffiti on Flood(?) and he will keep the paint and will paint over any graffiti as soon as it happens. Geoff will get bids for pressure washing gates and pillars. Miramar trees – Anita Mr Rodezno & Mr. Skover appealed the tree removal. The date for the appeals hearing is July 1. Richard Hill – our arborist – is attending the hearing pro-bono. Annual Meeting – Anita September 12th – will be confirmed by email. New Business: West side of Faxon – Julie According to city records the west side of Faxon is listed as Mt Davidson Manor – not Westwood Park. Julie will go back to the city and get it fixed.
