Committee Reports: Newsletter: Nanette Asimov Suggests fixed newsletter deadlines. Common Area Maintenance: Greg Clinton Baltazar finished the green on Miramar and is now working on another one. Julie-lower green got run over again. Wide tires and boulder moved. Greg-is the solution (the boulders) worse than the problem? Maybe consider concrete “donuts”? Planning and Zoning: Anita Theoharis 111 Colon – Anita still have not heard anything. Will try to call the planner again. No news. 154 Eastwood – Went to director’s hearing. It will be abated. 54 Eastwood – After garage was abated, inspector left a message and Anita has tried to call him back. Will call him again. 840 Faxon – Notice of violation. Inspector was supposed to go out there yesterday. To comply with notice of violation a permit was issued to remove deck. Deck was finished. Anita will continue to follow up. 652 Miramar – Group home. Has job card in window. Hugh – showed maps of neighborhood that he has put together of neighborhood as update to old handdrawn map. Looks very detailed and beautiful! Tree report: Report that cables were dangling on lwr Miramar and Ocean. Anita asked Davey to evaluate the whole park and tell what trees need trimming this year. Limb failure on Miramar last week. City must have removed limb. Old Business: Barbagelata Real Estate Marketing: Geoff wrote letter and Anita will amend and send out. Lower Faxon parking – Greg Sent letter out to approx. 60 residents in the vicinity of Lower Faxon green/island/median. Received 3 phone messages – two were against removing parking, one for. Several email messages. All-in-all (phone and email responses): 5 for removal, 5 against removal and one both for and against. Essentially the issue was split down the middle. Parking will have to be removed on the “feeder street” (Faxon going to Southwood), no matter what, for fire safety. Nanette moved to recommend to the city that parking gets removed around Lower Faxon green and “feeder street” (Faxon to Southwood) for emergency vehicles can get through and for the safety of pedestrians crossing the street. Anne seconds. Unanimous vote. Attorney retainer – Greg No news yet. New Business: Neighborhood crime – Greg Liz and Rob Valadez were robbed in November. They told their story of what happened and that they have since had another incident with a man seen running in their back yard. They are very concerned and want the neighborhood watch program (SAFE) to start up in earnest. Board can organize getting the word out about SAFE, but cannot organize the effort. It needs to be organized by residents block-by-block. 2nd issue: Car parked in front of home one evening at night, and then happened again another day. Car has been identified – belongs to neighbor in WP. WPA may be able to organize community meeting with the police and SAFE. Liz and Rob are meeting with Police Chief O’Leary tomorrow, 12/19 to talk about these incidents and what to do. Anne suggests WPA sponsoring a neighborhood meeting. Grant and Anne volunteer to organize this first meeting. Grant suggests including NERT as well. It could be a “safety meeting”. Will find a space to hold the meeting. Meeting should be end of Jan-beginning of Feb. Anita moves to arrange meeting. Julie seconds. Unanimous vote. NERT funds – Grant Money was deposited at one point for NERT and then nothing has happened for a long time. Now the group is getting active again. WPA board has held the money since. Grant will look into opening a separate account for the NERT group that the money can get deposited into. Next meeting: January 15 @ 1448 Plymouth Anita moves to adjourn Julie seconds Meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Asa Williams, Co-Secretary
