WPA Activities
The Westwood Park Association sponsors activities throughout the year to encourage residents to meet and learn about their neighborhood.
The following are some recent and ongoing activities sponsored by the WPA:
Bungalow Lecture & Tour
"A real San Francisco treasure" is how author and bungalow expert Paul
Duscherer described Westwood Park during the neighborhood tour in September 2003.
Duscherer, author of several books, including The American Bungalow, told
more than 30 residents that Westwood Park is the only neighborhood in San
Francisco with examples of practically every type of bungalow constructed
in the early 1900s Craftsman style, Spanish, English Cottage, Prairie,
etc.
During the tour, Duscherer talked about the characteristics that make our
homes historically significant, as well as beautiful such as beveled-glass
French doors, wainscoting and Arts & Crafts-era tiles, among other things.
He encouraged residents to preserve the architectural integrity and
uniqueness of our neighborhood, lauding our Residential Character District
guidelines.
Due to the success of Duscherers tour, many residents have requested
additional bungalow seminars and tours addressing areas such as kitchen
design and landscaping.
If you would be interested in attending another Bungalow Tour, please
contact the Association.
Annual Meeting and Picnic
This year's Westwood Park Association Annual Homeowners Meeting and Picnic will be Saturday, September 29, 2007, on the upper Faxon green. The meeting will begin at 11 am and will be followed by a fun and tasty neighborhood BBQ picnic.
The Association will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken and veggie burgers, and beverages. Residents are encouraged to bring a dish to share.
